Antique Wooden Washing Dolly

In the past, people used a tool called a posser or washing dolly to clean laundry. It had a vertical pole with a handlebar at the top and a conical or domed base. The outer rim of the posser had a row of holes around it. The posser was used to agitate the water and force it through the holes, not to hammer dirt out of clothes.
